how to stop cat(s) from sitting/sleeping on soft top?
Look up "SSSCAT". Its an aerosol can with a sensor on the lid. If you put it on your top and a cat was to hop up there, it would spray a mist on them. I can't remember if it was water or not. Whatever comes out of it will not stain or harm your top in any way, I had it to keep my cat out of a certain area of my apt. It was on my carpet and never damaged it.
Only problem is- if your car is exposed to direct sun light, im sure the aerosol can would eventually heat up and explode.

Several years ago someone on this forum put mouse traps on their roof. They claimed that it worked. It won't hurt the cat and if you're annoyed with your neighbor allowing their cat to roam free, you'll have the added benefit of knowing you scared the daylights out of their precious fur ball.
Private garage.
I use to live in an apartment complex with an open-ended parking garage. Down here in FL, stray "community" cats are pretty common. There were a couple of residents that sat on my top from time to time. I'm meticulous about my S2000 but never found the slightest scratch or smelled the slightest urine. At worst, there'd be a slight bit of fur and a few dusty paw prints. No big deal.
