here's my take...

out of the box, my '03(when i bought it back in january) was slightly notchy. i was unimpressed. as the weather turned warmer, and i put a good number of miles on it, the shifting gradually improved, to a point where i think that it's pretty great. btw- i've got almost 6k miles since new.

Most of the time when I drive a car for the frist time it takes me a while to get used to the way the clutch feels and that sort of thing. Not so in the S!!! It felt like I had been driving this car for years. First car that that has ever happened to me. So yah it shifts smooth

most cars with high hp have notchy shifting its not something you can easily avoid when purchasing a performance sports car.

I have a 2002 Miata and, as much as car magazines single out the Miata's shift as the standard by which all others seem to be judged, the Miata's doesn't even come close to the S2000's (from my experience).

You needn't worry about buying a "raw, unrefined sports car with no concessions to luxury" if you're looking at S2000's. These babies have power tops, power windows, power door locks...

Hey Purple,

Buy the damn car already, and enought with the "How good is it questions"

Most of us own the S2000....what do you think we will tell you..."It sucks ass, I'm sorry I bought it"

The S2000 shifts like butta if you know how to shift it.
That was rude as hell!! If you don't like the thread, move on to another. Why must you be so insulting just because you are so superior to everyone else? Does being a jerk come naturally to you or is it something you put effort toward?

From my experience with my "03, I've found the transmission a little notchy when driving calmly. Once I get up into the higher RPM's and driving a bit more agressively, it seems to become much smoother.

the s2k shifter has been described as one of the best (if not the best) shifter in the auto industry today.
