I have a V2 and I plugged the hole under the hood as well as bought an "umbrella" off ebay motors. They actually call it a heat shield. Just search under " Air filter heat shield". It'll come right up. Nice fit, cost is about $20 shipped

The first voice of reason in this thread. Is the car worth hydrolocking for those extra 2HP which are really psychological at best?

The CAI makes a huge difference in the sweltering heat. No more engine bog.

And yea, the sound is a major factor.

just curious, where and how hot/humid do you consider sweltering heat? I've seen some people just take the top off their air box which they say give less restrictive air flow and the great sound of a CAI. Down here in Georgia, you can't get much more humidity and heat.
Indeed the air is hotter than from under the front of the car (so you loose that 2hp boost) but its no different from some of the KN CAIs that are up high...
the sound is good and a lot cheaper too!

Read your post from the link. Do you really think that an umbrella would not have helped? In a rain, like your talking about, the water is going to drip on the filter regardless of hole plugging. The umbrella covers the whole filter fom the top. Driving in deep puddles is from the bottom up. Nothing will help that. I have to beleve the umbrella would have helped your situation. I am also considering drilling a drain hole in the intake tubing and putting a plug in it. If the car should be sitting in a heavy rain, I can reach under an pull the plug, just in case. Alot to do, but it is a sweet intake and the sounds it makes are this side of a Fererri.

Or if you really want to get fancy, and you're inclined enough, you can drill a hole and weld in a coupling and screw in a valve like one that is in the bottom of an air compressor tank. I think it's called a petcock valve.
