i am paranoid about the s2k
I say save up to about half the amount of the car at least and with a few months of payment in the bank.
And wait till you are 21 otherwise your credit won't be good and insurance
rates high.
You get raped by auto financing and the insurance company now if u get one.
My friend with one ticket under his dad's policy got a G35 6spd and is paying over 2500 a yr.
By himself for insurance it's 5600 a yr.
And he is almost 21 or is 21 already.
But jersey super high heh.

I'm 19 and i just got my S2k yesterday. This is my 3rd car. Before i had a 92 Prelude Si [manual] and before that, a 95 Land Rover Discovery. I say get a older car such as a prelude or a civic first. Get the S2k when u think ur ready to handle it. 2.0l, 240hp in such a small car cant be good for someone thats 15 for a 1st car.
Bah you guys are SO stereotyping young teens! Im 18 with the s2000 and I have NEVER got into a accident, and this is my first car thats manual. Ive owned it for 3 months and Ive worked hard full time for 3 yrs to help pay this car so please dont make rude comments such as "how much did your parents pay for that thing". If you feel confident enough to handle the car then by all means if you can afford it, go get it. Be VERY careful while driving it in the rain (which I rarely do) because it can easily fish tail out. The S is my weekend driver, my accord suites me fine for my commute to college.
its not a stereotype, S's are go legal go carts. Yes fun to drive, but like YeLLoWs2knVA said, if he's posting because he's afraid and his other friends have wrecked theirs, then maybe this isn't the car for him, or it is, but first he better learn to drive. Daily Drivers put more miles on their tires, therefore have a greater chance of having a grip issue. Also the car is finicky in corners and drivers need to know that. Again, 240hp + RWD= Be Careful!
The S is like a scalpel as far as performance, and it takes a good surgeon to make that scalpel work right.

get a tank (SUV) for your first two years of driving instead of a civic, so you can't get yourself in trouble going fast and you will get used to keeping your distance, also you won't get crushed by a bigger vehicle. Then get the s2k and it will only make you like the s2k 100x more. I went from a Tahoe to the s2k and it has made me really appreciate handling and braking. If you start with a s2k, you will probably not appreciate it as much and you can't start with such a nice car, cause then where will you go for your second car
. Can't go anywhere from the top
Now for a bit of ranting, everyone thinks that suv's are super safe, but in my opinion I feel safer in the s2k than I did in the tahoe, because I can actually maneuver without rolling the vehicle and I can stop so much faster. The big vehicles around me who can't brake quickly are the ones that make the s2k unsafe as they will rear end and roll over me because they can't stop as fast. So maybe you shouldn't go SUV. I fear inexperienced drivers in suvs running red lights and crushing me. Damn SUVs, they should be banned. Only reason SUVs are so much safer is that they keep you from being killed by other SUVs

I myself am 23 and just bought my S2000 a month ago. The rear tires spun out on me about 4 days into owning it while taking a turn and I thought that was the end of my baby. Luckily I didn't hit anything and drove away wiser. Listen to the people on this forum, they know what they're talking about and wouldnt be telling you this stuff for no reason. But, it's your money and you choose how to spend it. Just know what you are getting into when buying this car.
hey Ted H,
how about you get off your damn high horse and chill out, this is just a forum, who really cares what my grammer was like , it was obviously good enough for others to read, why don't you pick on someone your own age/size?
