I Couldn't Do It!...
Well after being in love with s2K, I decided I couldn't afford one and decided that MR2 spyder would have been more resonable. Well after car sitting a s2000 for two weeks and then test driving the Mr2...i was SICK I need an s2000. So Now I am thinking bout finding a used one, but I got some questions:
OK...people run fast performance cars hard. Do you think buying a used one would be dangerous?
If not..how many miles do u think is too much?

IL, know who you're buying it from! If you buy one from someone on this board, then you can read around and even quiz some of the other owners to see what info is out about that specific car and what the owner has or hasn't done to it in terms of abuse. If you're in doubt (like maybe someone deleted some posts?), PM some other people on the board and see if they recall anything from that owner.

Though many have probably been driven hard, it's not always the case. I'd try to buy one from someone you know, or someone who you know knows. Personally, I bought this car for a fun ride and it's capabilities and want it to last many years. It's never been raced, dragged, clutch dunped etc. It has certainly seen V-TEC, but not the rev limiter and it usually drives around town and doesn't see >4k rpms.
If it were me, I'd buy one from someone older (than what?-older the better). This doesn't guarantee no hard driving, but my guess is someone 18 will drive differently than someone 40 (me).
Good luck.
BTW-I'm gonna keep mine.

I'd look for someone who bought the car NOT as a primary driver, AND, a car that still has some life left on the factory warranty (which should still be just about everyone). This will give you a low mileage car and the opportunity to buy the extended warranty (which I would do).
To give you an idea, my 2000MY has just over 4000 miles. I drive it on weekends, sunny days, etc. I'd shop in the North, as someone who fits the profile above has a shorter driving season, which may equate to lower miles & more garage time.

There are dozens of these for sale that were bought by people who didn't realize the compromises of a sports car, aren't performance drivers, and bought it because they had disposable income and thought it was cute. These are the ones to buy.
BTW, this is good advice for motorcycles too. There are always sellers who bought a bike that scared them and let it sit in the garage for a year or two. Those are the deals.
