Instead of having your CR + a Miata/other cheap track car, why not sell the CR and buy two older S2000s--keep one stock for DDing and make one a track car.

However, used stuff wears out.

I'd rather track a new car and have it be reliable for me than constantly have to replace engines, trannies, bushings, motor mounts, A-arm brackets, differentials, wheel bearings, etc of a car that's 10 years old with 100k miles on it.

Option A sounds like the best option to me. Beat on a beater of a car to start off with. Once you've got more confidence in your driving maybe you'll be comfortable with putting the S2000 on the track.

Track the CR that's its purpose make it come to life.
And just buy a beater for a DD and problem solved.

I say pick option B. You will break something no matter what kind of racing you will do. You gotta pay to play when it comes to any form of racing. I'm sure you already know that. Your CR is already race ready out of the box. Use the car for what it was designed for. Who the hell cares about the value of your car. S2ks will never reach 100k value during our/your lifetime, so enjoy the car and get your money's worth.
EXACTLY.

This is the option I chose. I use the S2000 for casual driving and autocross, DD a Civic. Sometimes I wish that I had something more enjoyable for my commute, but then I remember that driving the S2000 amongst freeway, commuter traffic is nothing but frustrating.

I would definitely track the CR. I mean that's the only benefit of the cr compared to a regular AP2 really so I would use it for what it was intended for. DDing only the CR seems like a waste of spending more for basically the track package.
Maybe do autocross as others have said or tracks that are in the open. I have seen lots of tracks that don't have walls, just sand around them which would be really nice especially for learning!

autocross is the only option in my opinion.

everything else will either leave you in a bigger financial deficit, yearning to get back into an S, or wreck your S.

with autox you can go balls to the walls in a stock S ( better in a CR) and still have more fun and be safer then a canyon run.
your only obstacles in autox is rubber cones. only damage is paint scuffs that literally buff right out. speeds are low enough that you're not gonna roll over if you spin out.

just youtube some autox videos. you can see for youself that the chances of wrecking at an autox is less then on public roads.

Thanks for all the responses guys! A lot of you gave some good advice with good points. I know my car is the "Club Racer" and it would be a shame to turn a functional car into a garage queen but I don't want anything to happen to it, its also pretty rare. However, I do believe I owe it to the car to drive it somewhat hard. So I may just use the s2k as a daily driver/auto x car for now. I need new rear tires first : (. Hopefully a little down the road I want to get a shitty old miata/crx/eg civic I can dd/track and have the s2k as a weekend car. If I trash the miata/eg civic/crx it won't be a big deal I can always drive the s2k and buy another haha. I am leaning toward the Miata though because they are super fun and I love the drop top.

One member posted up the "24 Hours of Lemons" I saw that before but didn't look into it. It looks so damn sick. I was actually talking to my friends about getting a team together and possibly doing it. Just speculation but I think it would be really fun and cheap. Again thanks for all your help everyone.

see i havent really looked into the air pump too much and i'm a TECH lol! all i really no is it pumps air into the exhaust to help the cat on cold startup??? doesnt make much sense to me but thats what i was told. How does it hurt performance and what iexactly does it do?
no offense but you dont sound like the kind of tech I'd like to have working on my car. Air injection is used to pump air into the exhaust and heat up the cats so they can begin to work faster.

As for the OP, autocross is a relatively risk-free type of racing. In most cases, it's possible to accrue some sort of cosmetic damage from a cone or something, but in most cases, it's low speed racing and you're unlikely to hit a wall or something and cause significant damage.

If you can afford it, the best option would be to pick up a Miata/240 and keep it as a track day car. Sounds like you should've held on to the S13.
