When I bought my car from Honda almost 2 months ago(they grow so fast ) it was a brand new 2002, but it had almost 125 or so miles on it, the dealer said it neeed to be driven in from the service dept., where the cars are delivered, like an idiot i believed him, but now im wondering do you think someone was joy riding in my car before they let me know it was there . How many miles were on your car when you got it brand new, and am i a freakin idiot for believing such a story
Sorry but it sounds like your car may have been test driven several times (I stress may, since I'm not aware of all the facts). I guess I'm very picky, but if my car came with more than 25 miles on the ODO, I was prepared to reject it. To me personally, a car with 125 miles at the time of purchased, isn't exactly "new".
in your paperwork, you, by federal law, should have gotten an odometer disclosure certifying the mileage. it should have jived with the odometer. I do not know the exact limits, but a vehicle can be sold as a new car, a demo, or as a used car, all depending upon the mileage. Yours would have to be sold either as new or demo depending on the mileage caps for that legal definition. (a demo is allowed up to a few thousand miles). a certain amount of mileage is allowable for manufacture, testing, shipping, etc. Also, was your car a dealer to dealer swap? did you specify a color thay was not in the dealer's inventory? Otherwise it may have some demo mileage. Good luck!
FYI, my 2001 had 10 miles on it when I picked it up and the 2002 had 6 miles on it.
A buyer that I know here took his for service and the dealer put 12 miles on his car. He raised so much hell that they gave him the Lo Jack system and spoiler he was having installed.
Smells like tuna to me.
When I saw my car for the 1st time it was still wrapped in plastic and it had 9 miles on it. When the service department needed to drive it for like 5 miles they checked with me first as part of the deal. I went out and spoke to the guy who was going to drive it so I knew what his objectives were and I had a good feeling from him as I spoke to him. Days later when the car was ready (hardtop delay) the car had like 17 miles on it. I was very happy.
Good luck, and as many others will probably say, don't let it bother you too much. I would however never deal with that person at the dealership again!
The car was ordered and I was told it would take about 2 weeks to arrive, it took about 3 and a half, i was sick of waiting and hearing all the bs they were giving me and I said I wanted my deposit back I was going elsewhere...about an hour later the car was there.....and all those miles were on it bastards. They said they bring the car from the port to the service dept, which is not that far away then from the service dept, they drive all their cars to the dealership, i guess its a crock of shit and im the asshole
Wow, that's a lot of miles for a "new" car. All the cars at the two dealerships I went to had their cars in the showrooms. All had 8 miles or less on them. I got my car with 5 miles on it off the showroom floor. So far it has never seen rain! It's be a little worried with all the miles on the car you are looking at.
