funny thing is, I fell into the s2000 too. I thought I would own a STI or EVO because it was very impressive on paper. I got into Honda Hatchbacks and jumped into a s2000 for a quick test drive and drove it home the next week

I can definitely relate to this thread. In late 1999 I was able to test drive one, because it interested me. At the time I had a mildly modified 93 MR3 turbo, and initially when I got into the S2000, I was just not liking it enough to sacrifice losing that lack of pull. A year later that MR2 finally began giving me problems, so I sold it, and was back in the market for a fun car.

This time, there was nothing else out there that appealed to me, so I bought an 01, with the intention of just buying time, waiting for something better to appeal to me. It never happened, as the car grew on me so much, and I never looked back. I didn't want any other car to replace it, even after i developed engine problems with my 01, and no regrets.

I can see how the 350Z will appeal to more people though who want that easy to go fast in power. the newer ones pack more of a punch now, and the next generation is gonna be pretty sweet, but I wouldn't want one.

In a perfect world, my S2000 would have 240 feet of torque to match the vtec and high revving fun, but regardless, I totally love my 06 more then ever, and I just don't think I'm ever gonna get rid of it. ENJOY!!!

I was never all that interested in the s2000 at first. When it first came out, I thought it looked kinda cool, but I wasn't really a fan of convertibles. So it really wasn't on my list of cars I'd consider buying. At the time, my top two contenders were the 97-99 Eclipse GSX, and BMW Mcoupe.

Then I got a few rides in a friend's s2000. It looked and sounded awesome. Berlina Black, J's hood, Amuse front lip, Iforged wheels, and an HKS exhaust and a cold air intake that just sounded amazing, especially when he ran it up to 9k. It felt like a go-kart, very nimble, and I absolutely loved the tight-fitting cockpit. And one of the things that really turned me on to convertibles was riding around in it with the top down on warm summer nights like when it's still 70 degrees out at 10pm. Nothing better than that imo.

Anyway, it was firsthand experience (as opposed to just reading about it and looking at pictures) with the s2000 that put the car on my list of cars I'd like to own. A couple months later my friend mentioned that there was a used S for sale at one of the dealers, I went in and test drove it and just had to have it.

The S will do that. In 2000 when the S was new. I went to the International Auto Show in Portland with my farmer buddy. You know the type...only drives Fords and John Deere and wouldn't even consider any "Jap Crap" When we walked up to the S, I could tell he liked it. Then he sat in it, felt the perfect seats and sublime shifter then he got out, nodded his head and said, "now that's a Japanese car i could own."
