I kind of ignored the first couple of years of S2000's, thought it was just another Miata. Then I got my first taste of VTEC in a friend's Mugenized Prelude.

So I went down to the Honda dealership for a test drive in the S. My first impression was that everything fit me like a glove, when VTEC kicked in on the way to redline I knew I was hooked.

5 fantastic years later I like my 03 S2000 even more than when I first bought it. What a GREAT car it has been!

hell yea man I had the same kind of thing! From the first time Isaw a 350z I was in love with it so I was going to own one some day. About 2 motnhs ago I test drove one (with serious intent to purchase) and found it to not be what I tought it would be. It was not very fun to drive and I didn't like the sluggish response/soft suspension much. I then drove an RS-8 and found it to be a bit more fun. On the same lot as the RX-8 was an 03 S2k with 18k miles on it so I said what the hell, I'm here why not? So I drove it and then left the dealer with it 2 days later!

And I could not be happier with my decision, the car is an absolute blast to drive every time. I put like 100+ miles a day on it too (for work mostly) so I'm in it a lot.

To the OP: The S2000 was my secret crush. There was always something about this car that just kept me interested ever since it got released. I totally understand what you mean .

As for the sports car debate: The exact definition varies, [1] but most vehicles referred to as sports cars are rear-wheel drive, have two seats, two doors, and are designed for more precise handling, acceleration, and aesthetics

I was looking to get into a newer car, really thought about the 350z even went to the dealer, drove it, thought it was ok. But then I ran into this crazy Japanese dude who told me he had an 04 Yellow S2000, he said that he was moving so he needed to sell it. Got his number, saw the car, drove the car, & purchased the car. Great price too!!! cut me a big deal, he said he liked me? wierd but w.e. I got it with 17,000 miles, for $17,000.

Always wanted an S, probably the most affordable sports car I can think of. Even @ $50K CAD 3-4 years ago, I thought it was a good deal. Then I broke up with my long time GF and said I'd get one. 3 yrs later, I found an 06 with only 9040 miles to import that I paid in cash - so here I am, on this board.

I hate when people use this argument. Yeah, it's impressive, but 240 hp is 240 hp is 240 hp... it's not like the motor makes gobs of torque either.

BUT that's not what the S2000 is about. It's enough power to get up and go, but enough to make the car an overall extremely fun package. I don't think I could find a car that suits me better for the price of the S2000. It might not be the fastest in a straight line, but it's handling is damn impressive, and the fit is just too good. Congrats on yours!
