Before I forget, though this may look a bit dumb. You will notice all car hoods have a double lock action. Try leaving the hood open until the 2nd lock action - meaning not fully closed but still held by the 2nd lock as not to flip open. Put a rubber stopper or a towel or whatever to prevent the hood from having a free play.
Try driving around with this setup. Obviously, instead of sucking air from the opening in the lower front bumper, air entering the airbox will be immediately from the outside. See how this goes since it converts your hood into a cold air funnel. Just ignore people pointing to your hood while you drive =)
