Idea for a "Wind deflector"...
The other day I bumped into a friend who happen to have an SLK Mercedes. He had the roof down and I could not believe the brilliant idea for "Wind Deflector" that Mercedes had with the SLK. No glass/plastic sheet mounted in the center. What this was a simple stretchy 'stoocking' like material that you would stretch over the two roll bar hoops. It was stretchy, cut to fit and had a rubber band (I think) to hold it tight at the bottom. It was stretched over the 2 hoops in a way you would strech a real stocking over your own head. It required no drilling, had no vibrations, spanned the whole area of the two hoops and was easily see though. Not only that but it removed, what felt like 95% of the turbulance in the SLK - make the cabin totally calm :-)
I was thinking that this must be real eazy to make, install and take off as well as ship. Would anyone with the means or the right connections care to try a prototype like this? I think it would be cheap and very effective and I can't think who wouldn't want one as it requires no drilling and has no unwanted side effects (like vibrations). Also, if you're worried how it will look, well it looked perfect on the SLK so I don't see why it couldn't be made so for the S2000.
Any thoughs or people willing to take up this challenge?

I've seen this, and similar deflectors on miatas - personally, I don't care for the look - it looks cheesey and cheap. yes, you can see through it just fine, but it appears to be even more defeating the purpose (at least in appearance) of having a convertible. otherwise, I'd get a targa-top.
I agree with Schatten....It does look cheesy and cheap - and reminds me of a hairnet....Hardly a sporty image for the S2K.... I think I'd rather suffer the wind turbulence or vibrating aeroscreen than put one of those on my car....IMO you'll be lucky to get much support for this mod from other members of this board.
Maybe it could be made with the ends that go over the tops of the seats made out of leather (where are you Rick?). That might improve the look. The vibration I can live with but
the hinge on the right side of my screen squeaks when it vibrates. Tried WD 40 and it didn't help. ?????

I made a prototype of one of these for my Miata several years ago. It worked pretty well and didn't look too bad. I made it mainly so my wife's hair wouldn't blow around and since she didn't ride in the car much anyway I tossed in in the trash after a couple of months.
