Yes, the Accord is marginally quicker in a straight line and it has magazine bragging rights by having more horsepower at the crank but I can't imagine any serious driver (unless he/she puts 150% premium on stop light to stop light drag racing) considering the new Accord a better sports sedan than the IS300.
As a sports sedan, it doesn't, but for the money that you spend on both I think so. Althought the IS300 is probably better in the curves, the Accord is no slouch and it cost $5000 less. The 2003 Accord's interior is also more inviting. I like it's layout over the IS300. The IS300's interior looks like it was designed in the mid 90's. The Accord has more trunk and cabin room. The Accord will also cost less to repair. With the $5000 I'd save buying the Accord, I'd buy a Comptech SC for my S2000.

At the time it would have been a used M Roaster. Since then I would have looked into a used NSX or a Cobra replica.

I liked the vette's but I think they will look significantly different on the next model change so I did not want an older looking car when the total redesign comes out.

back in the beginning of 2002 when bought my s2000, if it didn't exist, i would have most likely got a WRX or a IS300. now i would get either a 350Z, BMW 330ci or wait until the STI came out.
