I agree with everything you said -- although I wanted an '02 cuz it was available at a price I could afford, and I wanted a glass rear window.

If I could $$, an '08 CR would be lovely though.

Some interesting stuff here. very helpful for me as I look to buy myself a used car and am trying to decide the question of AP1 vs AP2.. At this point I still need to drive an ap2 and see what I think.

I don't see why people would hate on the VSA. It can always be turned off. People proudly say "My traction control is my right foot," and that's all fine and dandy until they wrap their car around a tree due to excessive hubris. For track and autocross work, VSA can be turned off. For street use, why would anyone want to turn it off? It's not cool to have the back end come out with tractor trailers/inexperienced drivers ahead of and behind you. Just my humble opinion.

I've never driven an Ap1, but I love all model years. I don't care as much about the 9K rpm as I do about the heavier bits in my car that make it spin slower. The CDV also gets annoying at times. But I love all S2000s, and while people may bicker, they are all amazing cars, regardless of model year.

I had an 03.. Currently have an 07. I like the 07 better in every way.

I have a MY00 currently, and my wife drives an 06. AP2 is a better car without a doubt.

I'd take any year, the differences are minor.
In the end they're all the same model of a kick ass car, plus every MY has a droptop!
I think I'd still take any S2000 over another roadster, even today.
