This reminds me of when I had my turbo Prelude and I use to drive it back & forth to the tuner hoodless...(Oh the stares I received lol).

Windshield may not be a mandatory, but eye protection...definitely.

is it illegal to drive without hood? i'm thinking of picking up an after maket hood about 30 mins away. is it illegal?

also do you have to use hood pins? i'm thinking of getting the vented MG style hood. is it necessary for safety?
Was just watching an episode of Pimp My Ride yesterday and it was some ridiculous truck that had all of it's parts stolen, except for the cab and dash.

The owner checked the laws and picked up tail lights (mounted them to the frame), headlights, and a seat.

Basically the truck was an empty frame with a cab on it and almost nothing else. Apparently very little is required in California unless we're talking about emissions.

I heard that your car might over heat without a hood? I don't really know if it is true or not but someone here was saying that.

Hoods are designed to distribute the impact if you hit somebody, at least in recent years. I am not sure if they are regulated by Federal rules yet, like bumpers and lips.

Just do it! Even if the cop is a big enough douche bag to give you a ticket after you explain your situation.. the worst he can give you is a "fix it" ticket. Which means you just prove that you have since installed a hood to the court and everything gets dropped.
