the difference between gearing in the Ap1 and ap2 is miniscule. With 4.77s in an ap1, at 4700rpm in 6th you will be cruising at 75.1mph. In an ap2 with same gears and same rpm you get 76.2mph. just over 1mph difference. 4.44s in an Ap1 at 4700rpm puts you at almost 81mph. The difference in lower gears is just as small. For example, 4700rpm in 3rd gear w/ 4.77s you get 41.1mph in an Ap1 and 39.4mph in an Ap2.

Honda updated the diff housing on the AP2 by reinforcing it in the same place as the comptech housing is reinforced.. so you have to think its a worthy upgrade. With that said, reinforced diff isn't necessary even with boost, but you need to be extra carefull not to abuse it.
on the AP2 the bearing caps are beefed up but still have some thin areas. It is definitely an improvement, though.

the Comptech AP1 is stronger, though.
