I'm having trouble finding a replacement rear window - am I missing something?

I've never heard of this being done. Looking at the instructions the install is just slightly less labor than replacing the whole top. The whole top would just require changing the top fabric once you have those parts loose and the interior out.

Oh and you won't have a defroster if that matters.
