Red,
I have been a member I think for 5 years. When the F22 came out it seemed that there were 2 S2KI groups and it continues today.

Just because there are 2 differant engines does not mean there are 2 differant cars. Hell look and the Porshe 911, how many iterations of that engine are there. Corvette, how amy types of engines are there. I can speak to these 2 cars as I have owned both and when the groups get together they speak as if it is the same car. So what you are says I am in complete agreemant. The smack talking rally does need to end.

This maybe the rambling of an old man, but I feel better because someone else is tiried of all the BS talk, just my opinion.
Well, you've got me beat by a year, so I suspect you're more tired of some of the stuff than I am.

Nice to know that the thread made at least one person feel better.

It is my honest hope that everyone here will come to a better understanding, and I think we're making some progress.

Thanks for the kind response.

[QUOTE=afwfjustin,May 17 2007, 11:21 PM]I just want to say that, yes, I did participate in that thread and mentioned that I would take the 2.2 motor over the 2.0, but I said it as my opinion and also described why I would take it over my current one if given the chance.

i'm glad you didn't take my post as a personal attack it's all in good fun. I enjoy your posts most are very informative.
No problem, my friend.

Your post was very helpful, becuase it brought the way some people react to this stuff to light, and that needed to happen. Several people have suggested that I might be taking some things too personally, but certainly you can see that this isn't actually the case at all. It's not personal, and I'm not going to take it that way. You posted your honest feelings and impressions of what I'd said, and it gave me a chance to correct the misunderstanding. Nothing anyone else has said has been any more helpful, and I"m not even going to comment about usless responses.

You, and Catahoula, have done more to help me with this than anyone else who has taken part, and I appreciate it greatly.
(I don't mean to slight anyone, because I appreciate all the responses, but these two guys really have helped sort this out better than anyone else has so far.)

Hey guys, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong or have overlooked anything, but it really seems to me that we have managed to nail this down quite well. We have listed all the major changes in the engines, discussed how the discussion seems to offend some people and seen an example, and addressed the misunderstanding that leads to people getting offended. If anyone else really believes that I've bashed or shorted either engine in any way I'll do my best to either explain or correct my thinking. I believe we have covered (and uncovered) something here that bothers many of us if not most of us. Even if nobody else actually understands what I've done here, at least I know Catahoula, Emil, and a few others get it, and now all that remains to be seen is whether or not I (or anyone else) will be able to use this to answer questions about the engines. However, I think having the discussion of why discussions of the changes offends people (no matter how carefuly it's put forth) adds value to the discussion and *may* help some people avoid the trap.

In an attempt to make this thread more useful I'm going to take selected posts and embed them in the opening post (if I can still edit it, and if I can't I'll put them at the end or get help from the moderators), to put the responses that cut to the heart of the matter right up front in an easy to follow summary. If any of you don't like the summary or think I'm not representing the overall discussion fairly we can discuss it and change things until everyone involved is satisfied.

If it isn't clear to anyone readlling the thread that we have reached a concensus, at least give me time to present it in the summary tomorrw before debating its existance. If it turns out that I'm wrong in my summary tomorrow, we can discuss it then.

I'm almost tempted to ask the moderators to lock the thread after tomorrow. Would any of you mind?

Good post. F22 vs F20 wasn't my main reason for going AP2, and I think both engines are great, even if they are different. 8k rpms with shorter gearing is fun, but I certainly wouldn't mind 9k with a lighter flywheel either!

It all comes down to personal prefference, not what's "better", and I think it's great the we have the opportunity to pick between 2 (3 if you include DBW and VSA in the 06+) itterations of the car.
