I'got an idea for the duct too... I'll post pics when I'm done with that.
deadpedal,

Spill the beans about your idea...I'm going to intall mine tonight, and would appreciate any great ideas!

Zot,

You can also try using epoxy and some plastic on the inside of the bumper where the fake brake ducts are to deflect the air flow from hitting the air filter directly...that should prevent water from getting to the air filter.

Yea deadpedal,,,spill the beans I am curious also.

Phantom, not a bad idea. I just wonder how much room there actually is left in that little compartment once the filter is there, but would just deflecting water so it does not hit the filter directly be enough? I understand that a few drops here and there most likely wont do anything but who wants to take chances? And buying new filters because the get wet all the time would kinda suck. I am not trying to nitpick, just wanna be cautous because I am seriously considering getting on Injen. Am I just being a little to paranoid here?

Also noticed while I was cutting the ducts that there is an access hole directly underneath where I believe the filter sits.

One more thing. I believe R&D mentioned something about cutting the plastic out that would be to the right of the filter (looking at the car from the front) that would allow air in from the MAIN grill area. What about water from there.

I believe Rick Hesel said on his RM intake he was advised to NOT add the little air scope in that area because of possible water issues.

Thanks for all the input guys, keep it coming

Zot

I don't believe that rain is a concern. Just don't ford streams as submersing the filter will not be good. The oil on the filter itself should provide protection as well. Keep it cleaned and oiled. Your motor sucks in water all the time, it's just the size of the drops that makes a difference!

Okay, fine...I wanted it to be a cool suprise once I was done...

I'm not quite sure _how_ I'm gonna do it yet, but that's part of the fun.

Ok, so after I install the INJEN, I was planning on cutting out the one air duct to allow better air flow. No problem, untill you have to drive 60 miles on the freeway and put up with bugs, or worse yet, rain...

So, yeah, I could just put a cover on the duct when it's not good conditions, and then take it off when the weather is better. But I see myself growing tired of that already.

My plan:
Cut out the plastic panel - in perfect condition
put a lightweight-well greased hinge on the top to connect to the car
Glue on a magnetic strip, or even just a piece of metal to the back of the plastic panel
Install an electro magnet, or something of the sort above it.
Put the switch for the magnet (to energize it) opposite of the 'Cruise Control' switch on the dash.

Now you can hit a switch on the dash to allow more airflow, or hit it again to keep safe in the rain!

How cool would that be? Like I said, no idea how I'm gonna pull it off, but I'm sure I'll have fun doing it. Any input appreciated! (maybe another thread in a week when I start)

So what is the bottom line here? Will the ECU cancel out the benefits of the CAI or not?
-- It seems like it will help prevent retardation in hot weather by bringing in cool air. The ECU won't prevent this loss of power, right?
--It helps increase airflow to the engine, improving power. Will the ECU kill the increase in power?

UL, where are you?

Any gains brought on by the intake at WOT will remain. Period. I am fwding this post to my tech specialist for further response and to clear up the fog of half-truths floating around.
Z0-6 KLLR - I have one of each left in stock.
Thanks!
