OK guys I know this sounds lame but

Try unlocking the nut by going clockwise... screwing it further on the shaft, then unscrew the knob. Mine came off easily!

Use a wrench to loosen the lock nut on the shifter. And then just screw the knob and nut off. You can then put the Voodoo knob on.
