Insurance cost, wow...
At least you don't live in Philly/South Jersey (highest rate of insurance fraud in the nation). I'm 2 weeks from 27, have no tix or accidents, ever. I still pay about $215/month in insurance. One quote I got for insurance was $2800 for 6 months
Needless to say, this car is NOT one to buy if you're stretching your budget to make the payments. Hopefully more of boy-racer crowd figures this out and stops crashing S2000's so our rates go down.

I have a 800+ credit rating i'm 23 live in colorado & I pay 2900 for 6 months...(my00)
$175.84 a month.
MY00 was around $130 a month; so a $45 increase can be attributed to owning a newer car.
I was a little disappointed about that so I called Allstate cause I like the dude who does their commercials; I'm a safe driver so I figured I'd pay less.
LOL...I was quoted at $232 a month! For now, I'll just stick to State Farm. I'm skeptical about going with someone like Geico or Progressive. However, recently I got hit by someone who had Progressive insurance and their claim service was awesome.

47, married and no kids credit ratting of 860+ no tickets or accidents
$73.50 when she's on the road and
$18.10 when she sleeping in the garage
I heard that the S2000 has the highest cost per clam

The problem with all the discussion of what everyone is paying is that rarely have the comments taken the whole picture into account.
Geography is a huge factor. Even in the Portland Metro area, living in one county vs another has a dramatic effect on rates.
Coverages are something else. I carry 100/300 and have a million dollar personal liability umbrella. Lots of people carry the state minimum which will significantly reduce the rate.
So while $2000 / year sounds pretty high, we don't know what kind of coverage or what effect his zip code has on that rate.
