Yikes, some of those insurance quotes remind me of when I lived in Queens, NY about 8 yrs ago. I purchased a new VW GTI and the insurance was $350 a month!! I was in my early twenties.

Now, being slightly older, with two cars in IL my insurance is $1,180/yr. That's for a S2000 and a FJ Cruiser...

If you are 18 with an s2k, just bend over and take it cause it's going to hurt no matter what

find a way to pay your car off then purchase liability only. This would probably cut your rate in half. $4 annually would turn me into a gambler real fast.

I'll tell you what. I have had my S2000 for two and a half years and only pay a month for insurance becasue I only have liability. Some people call me stupid, but I saved a shit load of money. I am about to sell my car in about 2 months so I am knocking on wood until then. But just get liability and take the risk rather than sell the car. You only live once. What's the chances of you getting into an accident and it being your fault?
And here we have Final Destination....what? 3or 4 lost track....

I'm 23, male, single and just purchased an 06 as the first car to be in my name. I pay $137/mo through Liberty Mutual for 100/300 full coverage. Clean record.

LM was pretty straight up with me. Hopefully I'll never have to use it!

Again. I'm 23 with tickets and I pay $130 a month for both my S and a 240sx as my daily. Full coverage on S and liability on the 240sx.

Your problem, I found it.
actually...whether im 18 or 40, age does not play a factor in insurance. It's the amount of years you've had your license. So with that being said. A new immigrant from say the UK, would pay exactly the same as i do, even if he's like the best driver there is.
