Insurance on my new S2K
I've seen some insurance quotes on internet to compare, it seems like S2K is a very hefty insurance car. With that being said, let me know of some companies or ways you guys overcame the high insurance factor for the car. I'd really appreciate your input and I'm just going to be a little closer to purchasing my dream car.
My information:
20 years old with birthday in October
College student with over a 3.5 GPA
Received my driver's license on my 16th birthday
Clean record in 4 1/2 years of driving
Took Drivers Ed with the PCA (Porsche Club of America) when I owned a 1984 944 N/A- I don't know if this classifies as a Defensive driving course.
I'm interested in getting back into autocrossing again and it seems like the S2000 is the perfect candidate, although the 944 was definitely a good learning car for that type of driving. Let me get some of your guys' input.
Try Mercury Insurance.
I have 2002 Acura TL-s & 04 S2000 and I think I am not paying too much.
Most of all major insurance company couldn't beat Mercury.
Trustmercury.com or Mercuryinsurance.com will do for you.

My rates are good for a number of reasons:
1) Long-term customer (Nationwide Insurance)
2) Multiple car discount
3) Safe driver discount
4) ABS, alarm, airbag discounts
5) My age (29)
In fact, my insurance on my S2K is lower than it was on my Type R and my WRX. I pay $628 every six months for full coverage (COLL, COMP, PD, BI, MP, PIP, PDUM, Towing, Rental, etc.).
When I was your age, my insurance wasn't too bad b/c I was received discounts for being on the dean's list in college (maintain 3.5 gpa or higher) and I stayed under my dad's policy (with Nationwide). And of course, I had a 1992 Acura Integra...and not a sporty S2K or something along those lines!

haninman,
Check with Mercury and Wawanesa. When I was getting insurance quotes for my S2000, those two were the cheapest by far. I'm currently 25 years old and pay ~$110 a month for $100k / $300k / $100k coverage on my '02 S2000. This is through Mercury. I also got my license when I was 16, and have no points on my record.
When I first got my S2000, I was 23 years old, and at that time, insurance was ~$130 a month through Mercury for $50k / $100k / $50k coverage, so there was indeed a big drop when I turned 25 (and thereby accumulated 8 years of driving experience).
