I wouldn't bother with a regulator if your remote is 12v or 9v, but would for 6v or 3v.

I actually blew my first 9v remote after wiring it to the headlight.

[B]Well how about using the Cruise Control SET or RESUME button instead of the high-beam switch?

I've done this per the instructions for the high beam switch. I didn't use the optional zener and haven't had any problems with shorting out the remote. I placed it in the front passenger wheel well. Very easy if you follow the instructions.

I love it!!

I too installed a Homelink in the sun visor. Works great!!

I also purchased some additional Homelink units that are currently being installed in visors.
PM me if you're interested in purchasing a set.

[B]That is a very good idea since those buttons are basically "dead" when the master cruise switch is off.

My first official mod!!

Thanks to Modifry's very clear directions on his mods page, and a quick trip to You-Do-It Electronics, I now have my garage door opener hooked up to my "set" cruise control button and it works great!! It took me a little while, mostly because a) it's hard to move around under the dash there, and b) I was terrified of doing something wrong, but it was really easy and I'm pleased as punch with the results. I opted not to do the zener diode, figuring I could always throw it in later, and my unit works fine with ~12V.

Thanks Modifry!

P.S. Btw - the black wire on the cruise control harness (third from the right when held so the locking clip faces you) is a ground, that's the one I connected the other lead from the opener to.

I was about to do the mod then I thought up a easier one!

I used double stick velcro and stuck the big ugly opener under the dash where it doesn't show - you have to know where it is to use it - kind of to the right of and under/behind the steering wheel there's a large vacant space. Above your right knee. Very easy to push the button when you pull up home.
