When you say flog - do you mean run a 2 hour enduro race type of event? and multiple cold starts day after day in the middle of winter and in the heat of summer?

mike, did you ever open that new thread you proposed? If not, then I'll just keep track of this one. If so, can you please post the thread?

Thanks,

cal

Taxi
When I say flog I mean: High altitude cold here in Colorado, and heat in Arizona ( where the turbo is built ) I also mean stop and go in California ( where the car lives ) as well as everything in between. Cold starts, hot weather, dry climate, wet climate, high altitude, low altitude, traffic, wide open high rpm runs for periods of time, and even letting the car sit for three or four days then starting it and driving it hard cold. This poor car has seen it all, and will see much more before I release information. I hope this is what you are looking for.
If you have any other ideas, let me know
Thanks

Are some of the critical engine components then taken out and measured to for additional wear and tear?

Great thread! I'm still a year out from installing a unit, but I'd be looking for Turbo stock internals (low boost). Wanted to at least add my voice to those hollering for more power at lower rpm.

I love the Vtec kick at 6k, however we drive our S2K every day, and don't want to be spinning 6k+ for every shift around town.

Having owned a modified MR2 SuperCharged and driven a friends MR2 Turbo, I have to say the difference was amazing. For local driving the Turbo is a lot more fun.

As far as price, I'm also looking for $5k, but hopefully in twelve months that won't sound crazy, because all of you guys are going to have yours already installed

At the end of the month (hopefully) the engine will be completely torn down and inspected for stress. Obviously, there will be signs of added stress in the engine, but how much will determine whether or not it is viable to release a kit; I have said it before and I will say it agian: I refuse to release anything that I would not be willing to put on my own car.

The test car is running an HKS Fcon V, but it was hard to get, hard to find a programmer that had the software, and nearly impossible to install (custom harness) so the more realistic ECU at this point would be the AEM. From what the people at AEM have to say, it will be out soon, and will be able to be set up from any PC, and it will come with the stock base lines already mapped ( which the HKS did not ). This means that when we finnaly hit a perfect program, it will be as simple as uploading it to each of the computers that will be sent out with the kits. Also, AEM's computer (ECU) is plug and play so this removes the headaches that I had to deal with when making the prototype car.

mark, sounds like the project is coming along very, very nicely!

Great results and it sounds like a reliable, driveable turbo is right around the corner.
