Interesting: 996 comparing to S2000

I wouldn't say it's more harsh than a Cayman S or something.
Pcar seems to have a really soft suspension until PSM is activated, then it feels like a s2k with coilovers
Interesting read, I find the S2000 quite comfortable on the highways. In cities with crappy streets though people would find it harsh.
Also, I think the OP on the thread though probably only drove an AP1. He might have a slightly different opinion if he drove the AP2.

So, in order to be a Porsche 'lover', you have to go out and buy a 997 GT3?...
I don't get your point.

I don't get your point.

You can ask just about anyone about why the 996s don't hold value as years prior or years after.
No I'm not saying you have to have a 997gt3, I'm saying I wouldn't worry about 996 fan bois because they aren't in the 'know'

if you look at the progression over the years and then you look at 996 compare it with the 993 and 997 you'll understand what I'm talking about.

The point is anyone who considers the 996s as a benchmark or something to boast about is most likely not a porsche lover probably just a fan boi.
If you think the 996 is not a good car, you haven't driven one. If so, you're opinion is meaningless. The fact is the air-cooled motors, for all their nostalgic smells and noises, had their days numbered. The 996 was new ground for Porsche and we're all better off for it. Yes, there were teething pains, such as RMS, etc. But frankly, the 993's have their own share of issues as well (valve guide failure?)
It's easy to dismiss those who love the 996 as "wannabees." You're missing out on a great car if that's your attitude.

Some of the knocks that the 996 gets results mostly from being the first water-cooled Porsche. The 993 guys hate on it because they think they're the last "true" Porsche...

But then, 996s are indeed less raw than 997s, much like how AP1 owners complain about AP2s.
Nevertheless, 996s are great cars. However, imo, I actually prefer Caymans more nowdays
Even though it may be slower. I like how it looks and how the car feels like ...
