Default Interesting Thing in the manual.

Under the "Emergency Trunk Opener" Section (Page 67) It explains about the interal latch in the trunk, incase someone finds themself inside the trunk. Then it just states that:

"Parents should decide if their children should be shown how to use this feature."

So I have been trying to understand that... at first I thought it might be a joke. I mean, why would you not show your kids how to escape from a locked trunk??

Yes, I am bored.

Because the kids'll probably try it out on their own if they know about it.

It is obviously there for litigious protection - if a kid decides to "play" with the release in the trunk, cannot release it, and dies, what do you have? - a big fat lawsuit - so they put in that disclaimer.

Next!

Hmmmmm....

After reading this thread I tried opening the trunk from the inside.

GOD its dark in there and its hard as h*ll to find that little release thingy.

I don't think I'll tell my son about it.

Hmm...the trunk release thingie doesn't glow in the dark? I've never been in the trunk, and I doubt anyone much taller/fatter than me would be able to fit into it anyway. ^^;

But yes, the disclaimer "Parents should decide if their children should be shown how to use this feature," makes a lot of sense. Some kids may not be mature enough to know how to handle the information, i.e. sitting in the trunk and trying to open it for themselves without adult supervision.

When I took delivery off my car and the salesman was demoing it to me he said "there is an inside safety release in the trunk but if you get locked in it means you have been dismembered and are screwed already!"

Yes, I see the legitimate reason. I just saw it as a joke; as in they get themselves locked in, yet they can't get out.

I guess I as a little child was to logical to lock myself in anything (if I remember correctly).... so I didn't immediately think of a child locking themselves in there to try it out.
