many of your accusations are justified. Many of those who speak have not driven the s2K. I have. When you guys speak, I know, for the most part, what you mean. I for one AM jealous that the S2k is as fast as it is and is still NA. I see the S2k as no different than if Mazda put a rotary in the miata and stiffened the chassis and charged 30K for it. The S2K is the same concept as the miata, only executed on a higher level. the S2K could have built to lower standards, but honda, having the experience in this area, realized that they could show the world what really could be done. Although I do not own one, I will stick up for your car as if it were my own. Every board has it's share of people who think they own the finest car in the world and damn everyone else's car. I have seen it on all four roadster boards: Miata, S2k, Spyder, and Elise. I apologize if what they said makes you angry.

vtecvoodoo, what you said was right mean!

What gets me, is how the guy is so set on drifting as a safety issue. Please!!! He compares the miata drifting at 50mph to the S2000 drifting at 75mph. I don't think there's any safety in drifting. If you have to avoid a kid running out on the street, would you want your car to drift, or do you want it to grab? The miata and S2000 are two completely different cars with different purposes.

they are not 2 different cars with different purposes.

they are based on the same concept with different execution.

Miata: harken back to 60's MG and Triumph minus the reliability issues . Elan suspension for plenty of driving pleasure. Affordability for everyone.

S2K: F1 inspired engine. super stiff chassis. "Last time you had this much fun, it cost a quarter and gyrated in front of the supermarket" You have to pay to play!

Power=speed=money=S2K=fun

I like the guy who said that an S2000 would run 0-60 in 11 seconds if it was shifted below 6K rpm in each gear. What he neglected to point out was that a Miata, if shifted at 2/3 of its redline, would run about a 43 sec 0-60 time. Not sure about my math, but what a ridiculous point. I guess a Ferarri 308, if shited at idle through all the gears - if you could keep it from stalling, would do 0-60 in about 3 minutes.

I love some of these parameters people use.

Have fun with the car!!!

I can't believe all the guys saying that being able to drift the car at slower speeds makes it more fun and is therefore a negative point of our car since it sticks better in the corners. What must those guys think of exotic cars that you need to go 120 to drift in? I bet they'd love to drive a Pinto; drift at 10 MPH!

The posts from "harbir" were absolutely hilarious. The guy talks like he's an expert but he doesn't know a damned thing. The more he posted, the further he had his foot down his throat. The stuff about the chassis were especially amusing - yes, he prefers the cowl shake of a Miata to what every auto engineer tries to do: build the stiffest chassis possible.

That thread was the funniest thing I've read in many months.

Road Tests:

Car and Driver -
S2000 Miata
0-60 / 1/4 mi 5.8/14.4 8.1/16.3
Top Speed 147mph 121mph
Braking 70-0 157ft 168ft
Skidpad 0.90 0.88

Motor Trend -

0-60 1/4mi 5.2/13.8 7.9/15.9(7.5/15.8 SE)
hp 240 142(140 SE)
Braking 60-0 113ft 121ft(131 SE)
Slalom (mph) 70.1 61.1(67 SE)

Road & Track -

0-60 / 1/4 mi 5.5/14.2@99.6 8.0/16.1@86.1
hp 240 138
0-100 14.2 23.0
Top Speed 150 123
Braking 60-0 123ft 150ft
Braking 80-0 216ft 282ft
Skidpad 0.90 0.92
Slalom 65.9 62.7

Wow, looking at those numbers it looks like the Miata is a much faster, safer and quicker car! I think I'll just sell my S2k and get a Miata. I don't need more hp, better brakes, faster acceleration, faster top speed and better handling.

Sorry it's kind of jumbled, that's not the way it was typed in.

S2000 numbers followed by Miata numbers.
