JDM BLING...

The MP3 format wasn't actually developed by Creative either. The root research can be traced to Bell Labs, and was mostly done under Government contract, starting as far back as the 60's.
As far as JDM Bling....... I think it is in regards to the parts like visor stickers, ETD's, seat belts, and various other items that are no better then the next part other then the fact they are from Japan. They are for nothing more then bragging rights.
Like I have said before, there are a some well developed parts out there from Japan that warrant the extra cash. But when I see people who say that a Spoon strut bar is better than the Cusco or Muz. That is retarded. I know a guy who paid $310 for a test pipe from Japan. Why? Its a straight piece of stainless pipe. Any exhaust shop could make you the same part for under $100. That is just bling. Ofcourse in that case, if they were smart. They would just buy an Invidia test pipe and say they had a JDM one!
[QUOTE=screaminyellow,Jul 14 2007, 10:21 PM]Thats cool, but I was not refering to the MP3 format, just the first personal portable MP3 player. Although It is interesting that Bell Labs started the format! Nice find!

Red,
Thanks for the response, even tho you don't know much.
With regard to car guys, whatever you are ranting on about, that's not what I said.
I've encountered Jay Leno a few times. He seems more like a car idiot than a car guy. Altho I'll grant he does have money.
Good luck with whatever you're talking about.

Would you mind being more specific and less of a wise ass? What exactly is it that you didn't understand. Your rambling complaints don't tell me anything about what it is that you failed to understand.
You also know dick about Leno. He happens to own one of the finest restoration shops in the world. Why do you post negative comments about people you actually know nothing about?
Personally I think it makes you look like a complete jackass.

LOL, maybe I don't get it because I'm a ricer.

I like custom cars when they are well done. A car can be appreciated as art, even if it's not something we'd want to drive. T-bucket roadsters and lead sleds are cool, and they're all bling, and nobody puts them down for putting looks ahead of performance, but if somebody builds a custom import, then they're a ricer. That's what I don't understand. It's OK for domestics, but it's not OK for imports.

And even though it isn't mentioned as much, there are PLENTY of domestics around here that are complete ricers with ugly body kits and crap. But generally, imports are stuck with the people that can afford the body kit but not the paint
[QUOTE=Marrk,Jul 14 2007, 12:42 PM] A) Anybody know with certainty the differences between OEM JDM spec and OEM US spec? Is there a fact sheet somewhere on line?
B) Mugen has an intimate connection with Honda? The guy used to work at Honda? The guy is a Honda?
C) When we are talking about JDM bling, we are talking about non-OEM JDM bling? (The clear running lights are OEM JDM, I assume.)
D) Is the US spec s2k a 50 state car?
E) That "Honda" side badge written in script is making me feel all tingly. For those like me who don't know, what's the provenance of that and where/how do you get 'em?
F) If you are a car guy or a motorcycle guy, a part of it goes beyond being reasonable. It's an emotional relationship. I shop with discretion for other things, but it makes me happy to, in certain cases, throw money at my vehicles. That said, the guys who want to get happy by powering up the s2k instead of enjoying the handling aspects are driving the wrong car.
