I think its the people with the elitest type of attitudes that make others not like people who prefer JDM parts. I never liked people with attitudes, but in this hobby and industry you will see lots of people who are just plain assholes and a bunch that think their SH!T dont stink.

Ok, so all I ever hear about is JDM bling... I bought my exhaust off of a dude and was askin about his clear signals in an AP1 and how hard it was to do.. His reply was "oh those are JDM...gotta have the bling!" I'm sorry, but I think it's really a small penis syndrome or something like that of all the dudes driving cars with BIG ASS engines to feel like they are the shit. Now most of the JDM stuff is top notch and looks very good, but seriously.. An intake kit that costs 1100+, exhaust that is upwards of 2G's.. Everything that is JDM TYTE is atleast 3-4x the price of something similar that isn't JDM.. I guess if money is not an object, one might want to drop it.. But I could find lots of things to drop the extra money on.. Am I the only person that feels this way?
it's about personal choice, i mean those big buck JDM parts are developed from major racing company in japan, most of them is R&D, tested and beated on japanese race track, they have their purpose/niche in the market.

what's expensive and overpriced in purely an opinion of the buyer, you can make a cheap exhaust with no R&D and design and sell it in volume or you can make the same profit by selling one. it just different level of market, that's all.

you can't survive as a company if you don't put out good part, you can't put out good part with out design and level of engineering. most of the people can't tell the difference between mugen from apc(rip btw), but i think mugen is not aimming to please everyone(isn't that the point of moding the car anyway? to be unique in terms of performance, looks, etc?)

no comment on the bigot, they seems to come in all race, gender, type, height, and drive different type of car.

I do try not to judge people based solely on a single aspect of their personality, but elitests tend to get on my nerves. It's not really the elitest attitude that gets to me, but rather the ignorance that is (always) behind the attitude. Bigotry and arrogance are both almost always founded in ignorance. Stupid is sad, arrogance bad, but the two together is just plain obnoxious.

Being a male, I'm not really into penises, and don't really understand why any male would have such interests. Seems totally gay to me.

Like most other thing with cars.... Its a fad! Most of the crap from there is no better then the next part. In some cases even worse! I remember about a decade ago you couldn't give away JDM parts, but now its all the rage

Now I will agree that there are some really good parts that have alot of R&D in them, but most are just Bling!

The best part is.... When all the kids at the local Starbucks start talking about their car is completely JDMed out, I gently remind them that no matter how much JDM air freshener you spray in the car, or how many cans of JDM soda you have in the cup holders. You will never be truely JDM until you get a right hand drive!

Once again... There are some decent parts. I even own a few on my ride, but I chose them because they were either the style or best developed part I could get. But there are some big JDM whores out there that just get carried away. I know a guy who paid over $100 for the visor warning stickers from Japan!?

P.S. A friend of mine bought a Spoon Sport clutch kit for his S and when he got it, it was nothing more then the factory Honda clutch with a slightly stiffer pressure plate! And he paid more for them then I did for a Cusco clutch and flywheel pack witch is far better than his Spoon!

How come nobody ever bitches about bling on traditional hot rods?

Modern show cars are decendents of the custom cars guys built in the 40's and 50's, in the USA, so we quite literally invented bling. Japan is just arriving at the party late, and taking credit for all the goodies. Right here on S2kI, I've been told that Japan invented everything from drifting to the I-Pod, so why not give them credit for inventing bling as well. Makes as much sense as any of the other nonsense.

Paying a premium for Volk rims makes sense...the quality and styling are hard to beat from any non-japanese manufacturer. Paying 600 for a Mugen valve cover, however, is going for jdm bling and I can't afford that world. I guess if you have more money than god and don't like Porsches or cars made in italy then some heavy jdm spending makes some kind of sense. But that is a parallel universe with which I am unfamiliar.
