Default Jet Chip

I was just browsing perfomancecenter.com and stumbled across something called a Jet Chip V-Force. Anyone heard of these b4? Is this an ECU chip?

The website claims to increase horsepower and stuff. The only one on the website is for the 2.0 engine - nothing for the 04 yet

FYI: I sent an email to Jet Chip about the 04 ECU... Here's their reply:

We do have an ECU upgrade available for your application. The ECU upgrade does require that the factory ECU be sent to us for modification. You must purchase the upgrade package before sending the ECU to us for the modification. Suggested retail is $299.00, and the part number is 65001. The ECU upgrades are all done per the application, in other words, do all the modifications you intend on doing before you get the ECU upgraded. That way the program can be set up for the specific modifications. Hp gains would be dependant on the extent of modifications.

There have been numerous stories on other boards about JET and their chips. Supposedly, and I am PRETTY sure it was proven, they take your ECU, throw on a JET sticker, and then send it back. Meaning that nothing is ever done to your ECU. Do more research and you'll see what I mean.

extra power can be obtained through extra fuel delivery, higher RPM, and vtec engagement changes. generally, stock cars don't gain much, but it is a good mod for a substantially modded car.

I've searched everywhere and I can't find any dyno sheets or performance numbers for these jet chips. Has anyone out there had any experience with 'em?

You're not going to find much, b/c they don't work. If you want to tune, get an AEM unit or a VAFC I or II. Otherwise, wait till Mugen/Amust/Spoon come out with an entire ECU.

I've never owned a Jet chip, but I've been hanging around rice rocket people since the early '90s and I have never met anybody with a Honda that bought a Jet chip and liked it. But to be fair, until the K series engines debuted, no prefab chip-including respected tuners like Dinan- has ever worked very well in any Honda. You always need a custom tune by someone with a dyno and some experience.

OTOH, I think the Jet chips work pretty well with auto trans GM and Ford vehicles because they also alter the auto shift points and make them shift "harder" which probably makes the vehicle feel like it's going faster.
