I don't have any gearing changes in my S yet but I can't see them accelerating less then stock on the top end no matter how you look at it. Granted, the top speed will ultimatly be lower but you should get to max speed in every gear that much quicker. I had gears installed on all my previous vehicles and this was the case every time. How do you figure that the S2000 will be any different?
I thought that top speed was limited by aerodynamics anyway, so perhaps lower gearing plus a supercharger will still hit the practical top speed of an unmodded car. Can anyone confirm that?

while id love to go with 4.77 for accleration, many people have said it is not nice on the highway and not to mention the 4.56s are stronger than the kia gears. but i still bow down to your speed.

Here you go...4.10 vs. 4.44 vs. 4.77

Gary, what gear does that graph represent? If it is 6th gear, I must be reading the graph wrong because it looks to me like the 4.10's (stock) at 70mph is over 6500rpm!?!... it should be more like 3900-4K rpm.

It runs through all the gears 1 - 6...they're grouped in threes of green-red-blue. If you look at the last group, you'll see that the the 4.10 (last blue line) is around 3800-3900 rpm.

The only downfall I see to going with the 4.77 ratio while looking at the graph is that it will take an additional shift to get to 60 which may slow you down a bit in the begining but after your in third gear you should pull pretty hard all the way to the end much faster then stock gearing.

I've had mine installed for a while, and they are hella fun, I can pull on my buddies 04 GTO from a dig now

the only thign I dont like, is they pull the powerband down lower. IE the car is much quicker than stock from a dig, but not that much quicker stock from a roll, and the advantage gets less and less the higher the speed.

this can be dissapointing if you can thrash on mustangs or whatever from a sig, then they want to go from a roll and you lose big time.

but hey if you wanna go from a roll, thats what a supercharger's for
well I was debating gears vs ECU but since I like to go form a roll 20-60 start then ECu looks like it is winning

What would be great information would to get a dyno for someone who has a new FD, and match that over time, in all gears. Then, we can compare that same dyno to a stock, and possibly a sc'd/turboed S.

From a dig, I would expect the geared S to pull on stock. If, you had the cars start in the same gear rolling, of course, the geared S will pull. You would get the same results if you were to put an stock AP1 vs. AP2 due to gearing differences (not accounting for the lower redline...that's a different thing to factor in.).

However, from a roll, as you can see from the graph, it's about being in the correct gear. Since you don't change the amount of power/tq being produced, but the time (rpm) the torque is applied, correct gearing/driving becomes more important.

Now, get a geared SC'd/turboed S...that's a different story.
