not only is it difficult, it's near impossible since the 6th gear is limited by the size of the tranny casing.

So has anyone done this with an AP2? I've only seen responses from AP1 owners.

Thanks.

What about the speedo? Do you have to have that little yellow box?

it will rev even faster than the ap1 for the first 4 gears, but since they have a higher redline, it's unsure which is faster overall.

in other words, the ap2 with 4.56 will be just as fast as ap1 with 4.56

I would think about this mod, but I think the car is geared too low for freeway driving as it is. With stock gears I'm turning right at 4K @ 75MPH (pretty normal highway speed out west). What are the revs at that speed with the new gears? I'm also thinking with these gas prices I'm not too hot on the idea of lowering my milage. Tony
your mileage will actually go up, unless the majority of your driving is done on the freeway.

and it's 500rpms over stock when you are at freeway speeds.

Now if only someone (Rick are you listening?) would produce a 6th gear that would work in conjunction with the 4.56 or 4.77 to drop the the rpms the motor turns at highway speeds to make for comfortable long distance highway driving...say a good rpm drop of 800 rpm or so at 70 mph.
I'm listening. Something worth investigating! If Jeff G can supply a stock 6th we can look into it.

On my '02, with the 4.57's I was seeing right at 5000rpm @ 80mph. I have since added an AP2 tranny, and that dropped the rpms by about 200-300 at the same speed. Before the new transmission, I still got 30mpg on an 1100 mile trip to DC and back.

Rick, I've got a 63k-mile MY02 transmission just sitting in the garage.

Can you diassemble it and send the 6th gear parts? I will talk to Jeff Goetz, though. He probably has a few parts around.
