Default K&N or Comptech

Is the K&N FIPK a short ram like the comptech?

The K&N's tube routing is similar to the Comptechs. Both are in a box on the left side of the engine bay. I have the K&N and am very pleased with it. The Comptech is good also, but I think you can get the K&N a little cheaper. Easy install.

that would be my summation, too.

i think the comptech looks better, but they are very similar in function.

What about a kit that allows use of the stock air box but duct runs to opening in passenger fender?
