Default K&N filter in Comptech CAI?

Has anyone dynoed with a k&n in their comptech icebox?

I'm going to replace my filter this week for dyno and im going to over night a foam comptech filter (cleaning it is to much of a hassle) or get a k&n type filter.

I'm thinking that the foam would be the best HP since that is what comptech used but I'm curious on the k&n

I dont think there is a K&N filter that will fit the comptec CAI. try a AFE 24-55505. there at aFefilters.com

Like said above, K&N doesn't make a filter that fits the Comptech box. I personally will be ordering the AFE filter listed above. Foam filters are junk, they are more restrictive and filter out less particles than a cotton-gauze filter.

http://www.midstatesinc.com/products/afe_filters.htm Cheapest place with free shipping.

5-1/2"F x 7"B x 4-3/4"T x 7"H Dimensions (modified velocity stack)

I got the afe, material is a lot better than the k&n but felt no difference in power. Got it from midstate as well.

If you have the comptech ice box, then you want the shorter afe filter. 24-55505. I had to glue on the 24-55507 because it bumps the bottom of the box, and wont stay clamped to the in intake tube. this was my experience.

You can fit a K&N RF-1048 even though it has a 1/2" larger inner diameter. I McGyver'ed mine by adding a thick layer of black electrical tape to the tube that it clamps on to, so that the filter fits snug when you tighten the supplied clamp. If you like, you can cut the hole on the box so that the intake can fit inside with the black tape and all. Or you can just be lazy and slide the pipe in from the inside of the box. And voila! You have a K&N filter in your comptech box! The lid closes barely, but safely, by the way!
