Default K40 Radar Detector

I know I will never chenge the minds of the V1 freaks since I used to be one. I always said that the Valentine 1 is the best detector on the market. I now know differently IMO. Don't get me wrong the V1 is a superior detector as compared to the majority of SELF CONTAINED UNITS on the market. The fact of the matter is that all high end units pick up a threat reasonably well so it then becomes an issue of ergonomics. The K40 is custom installed in your car. Contrary to popular belief the V1 is not the only detector with two antennaes. The K40 has an antennae mounted behind your front bumper and another behind your rear bumper. In addition I have the laser diffuser installed which at least gives you a chance against laser. Mounting the V1 is a hassle at best and security is always an issue. Not true with the K40! its built INTO your car and cannot be stolen its ALWAYS THERE ALWAYS ON. Two LEDS are mounted in your gauge cluster the left one informing you of a threat from the front, right LED tells you of a rear threat. Better yet is the audible signals, if you hear your signal from the left you know the threat is from the front, the right audible tells you its a rear threat. This allows you to determine what type and location of threat without taking your eyes ioff the road! The K40 also falses FAR LESS than the V1 therefore I BELIEVE my detector. The K40 is also fully upgradable as the V1 is. If I had less than 500 to spend on a detector? V1 HANDS DOWN. Money not an issue? K40 HANDS DOWN!!!!!!

The Valentine1 BLOWS away the K40 in test after test, year after year. Money was not an object in my situation- I needed the best damn detector money could buy- and that would be the V1. HOWEVER...

There is one area that the K40 does have the V1's ass beat: the stealthy nature of its installation.

HOWEVER...

I have come up with the solution to this problem: I am having my valentine1 custom installed in my S2k. The V1 is being mounted on top of the secret compartment (in front of where the windscreen is)- however, installation will be covert due to the use of a false top created to match the original trim of the car that stealthily hides the guts of the V1 on top of my secret compartment. There will be a thin sliver of smoked plexiglass that will allow laser to pass through to the sensors. Additionally, the REMOTE DISPLAY UNIT has been dismantled and is being mounted INSIDE the glass on my rear view mirror. The REMOTE AUDIO control unit completes the package, being mounted either in place of my useless audio control button or in my coin cup- haven't decided yet. This enables me to have the V1 permanently installed in my vehicle, covering rear and front perfectly, and with the sleathy installation of a K40. PROBLEM SOLVED.

The technician is curing the fibreglass for the faux 2nd glove box lid- and it will be a few more days until he completes the installation- I'll post pics then- I promise.

If anyone's interested at this time, I'll hook you up with the installer- a guy whose one national installation competitions- and you too can get what me and LITE BLUE are having done for $750! (plus the cost of the V1)

gomason - there is a big difference between the K40 and a V1. The K40 is also billed as a laser detector diffuser. As far as I know the V1 is not capable of this. If a cop has you on laser and your detector goes off it's already to late. Maybe the best thing would be to have both.
