I've been daily driving it since I bought mine in 2008, about 65 miles roundtrip, 5-6 days per week and Southern California weather. I did not buy my S to be a garage queen. I don't complain about gas since I came from an 1994 Acura Legend which is a V6 and I recently replaced tires for the second time since owning the car. I have 2 children and a wife that drives a 2013 Honda Pilot. I do feel like I need to buy a 3rd car that can sit at least 4 people, but since I'm alone most of the week, I have held off.
With all that said, if having children are in his near future, then I would reconsider getting the S and getting something more convenient.
