Default key reset

does anyone know what is needed to reset a key to a new immobilizer. i was thinking about getting a different ecu and that would mean i would have to get my keys reset to the immobilizer. someone said i would have to have the vin number of the car that i got the ecu from. is that right? becasue the guy i bought from does not remember. but i do have a key that came with the ecu.

you need to bring it to the honda dealer so they can program it to the ecu. the immob needs to be programmed to the pcm as well. it can only be done at the dealer

well of course i knew that only honda could do it, but i was wondering if i needed the vin number of the new ecu? i have the key that goes with the immobilizer of the new ecu. there was someone who mentioned that you could make a blank key, a key that matches the rest of the keys but does not have and immobilizer chip in it. i was not wanting to go down that route.
