Kills Forum????LONG
I don't think this is a bad idea at all. It gives people an opportunity to talk about there street encounters without getting blasted out of the water. It will also protect the eyes of the saints on this board that don't want to hear about such shenanigans. I personally have not been involved in any high speed street races, but I do look forward to hearing about the people who have.
After taking my car out on a track, my whole view of driving fast is different. It scares me more now to be on the street with so many idiots.
The occasional street encounter between more mature and responsible individuals dont bother me, but I am not sure if we want a "kill" board. I think that it is not only about reputation, but also about refelcting the values that the majority of the people on this board hold. Most of us would rather see things takien to the track. Yes, the S2000 is an amazing Street-rated car, but it doesnt mean we have to race it there.
Anyways, sorry for rambling. I dont mind having a separate section for comparasons, but anything that remotely advocates street racing...not my pitcher of beer.

This is competition and there is already a board for competing in a controlled and sanctioned enviroment without endangerment to bicyclist, pedestrians and families.
I don't think I would like to see illegal street racing receive community endorsement as others have said, especially when we have quality members placing high on SCCA results doing it right.

ONCE again. This is NOT a KILL FORUM. And there is no chance that it would be named as a KILL FORUM. I see great responses from members. But the main argument that most members has seem to revolved around are the *ENDORSMENT for Street racing, and the REPUTATION*. I don't know if many of you missed the main points of having this forum or not. But like I stated in earlier post. It's merely a forum for comparison, encounters, and the ONE BIG MAIN point is to have a place to post it without ticking off any members or creating a flames.

My apology to all members for misleading you with the title of the tread *KILL FORUM*. This will not be a KILL FORUM. I tried to change it, but it was too late. Once again my apology.

Whether it is decided to make a street competition (kill) forum or not, these S2000 vs... posts will still be around. I believe they need a place of their own so that when less aggressive drivers look in Car Talk, they don't just read something if the title ticks them off, then proceed with flaming replies. I enjoy reading about the street competition stories when the drivers are semi-sensible about it. Make the forum and take the good with the bad. Of course some people will post some objectional stories, but at least they won't be in car talk. If they do get posted in car talk, moderators will be able to move them appropriately.
With it's own forum, readers can choose to go there or not. This will make it much more convenient for everyone. It's not going to turn into an immature racing kill site. We've already established our maturity as a web site, it won't disappear. For those of you who are worried about it getting out of control, well, that's what moderators are for. They've done an excellent job up until now and will continue to do so. Just because you don't like the subject of street racing, A) doesn't mean it won't happen and B) doesn't mean you should keep people from talking about it.
Let's give it a chance

Then again, having a "kill" forum would only encourage some to go out and bring back experiences to post for fame and glory -- I know that when I slightly touched on an "aggressive encounter" of my own a month back, I got some negative replies (although constructive), and have since rethought my attitude. Those "flames" that come up due to a kill post are actually helpful in creating this community of mature drivers IMHO.
Give 'em an "encounters" or "vs." forum cthree. Why?
1. Almost everyone has them. I don't care if you hard launch to beat some guy to the onramp merge or you deliberately threw a rev at a camaro and he responded and you lined up at the next red light. A significant proportion (perhaps a majority) of people, both on this board and in the population in general, have had an occasional contest on the road.
2. There are enough people here (a majority? don't know) who don't like to hear about such encounters that it makes sense to put them in a discrete container, so to speak, so that they don't have to be offended by such stories. We already see a few of these threads pop up each week on the car talk forum, so it isn't like they don't already exist.
3. Many of us want to know who is faster. I'd prefer to find out on a drag strip, but it doesn't always happen that way.
4. Such a forum would be a useful place to discuss general comparisons between cars.
5. Such stories, true or not, tend to be entertaining.
Some might argue that such a forum might cause a degradation in the mature attitude on this board. Poppycock (how's that for a mature exclamation? ;-). If anything, the members here would likely keep the tenor reserved in such a forum and ensure that truth, justice and integrity prevail. ;-) Just assign a moderator with a tight rein as a precaution. It isn't like building a physical structure either - you can shut it down in an instant if you choose.
