Legality w/ J's 70RR / Big bore preference?
Hello
I am buying exhaust for my S2 and the J's 70RR caught my eye - 23.4 hp gain is claimed, problem it's obviously illegal - but the car wont be inspected for four years - is it loud enough a cop would look and realize it's not street legal?
Can exhaust/headers/rims/body parts be bought and not void the warranty or is any modifcation an instant void?
I would like to go all motor(once the warranty is dead with the exhaust most likely) with the car because money really is not the issue right now (it is my preference, please do not tell me forced induction is better and cheaper.. i know that) ...is there any suggestions? I thought about the Inline pro 2.5..but then I saw the Feels 2.3 and the Toda 2.2 - any one have experience with any please let me know.
Thanks for any help.
I would have tried search but for some reason my computer just sits there acting like its loading but nothing happens - not sure what the problem is.

i have the parts installed in my car that u are asking about...i can tell u...either its legal or illegal...it is up to the cops judgement on giving u a VI or not...i have been through close calls with the police already about my S...if u are goin for daily driving work and back and use for pleasure, i recommend not to use headerback exhaust systems unless u have guts...the reason is if u get a VI from the police one day its a hassle and bitch to uninstall full exhaust and replacing it with the stock...70rr is one piece exhaust...i would recommend 60rs with a testpipe..another reason is becuz easier to switch the testpipe to your stock cat...thus avoiding warranty terms..modding cars already voids it anyways so thats why i keep my stock parts laying around when i need them...also is not much bigger difference in power gains with the 70rr vs 60rs with testpipe...u be looking at most 3-5whp more from 70rr on top of the 60rs+testpipe gains..i seriously can tell u about the 23.4whp gains from just an exhaust is not likely to happen with NA..but 23.4whp gains is actually from using all the J's parts like i/h/e big bore throttlebody and ecu...it sounds about right from my dyno results..also the 70rr can get irriatating at times especially on hwy drives...rings your ear drums and also u have to pump the music in order to listen to it...but then again its your own peference...really up to u

Well, as for legality, I cant help you there...I live in MS where the majority of trucks are running straight pipes
...The cops here dont even flinch or care for that matter...I opted for the HKS Hi-power single outlet exhaust...It has a very deep throaty sound (almost ferrari like when you rev it from idle to 9k) and sounds great...I have yet to get "bothered" By it...but it is fairly loud...with no drone at idle...and very little at cruising speed...But if you push it...it really comes to life...I would highly recomend it to anyone seeking a lightweight single outlet exhaust
Ohh and the claimed 23whp from j's is not just with the 70rr exhaust, it's with their exhaust, header, throttle body, and ECU...The exhaust itself wont get you anywhere near 23whp.

I was planning on getting the bigger throttle body, intake, and ecu anyway, but I did read the 60rr has a silencer or something in it - is it worth the power loss?
its not a 25whp gain without it either
i will post a dyno on my J's modded s2k once i snk dyno re openscheck outmy J's parts reviewif u want an review on all J's bolt on engine parts

here some proof about all j's parts adding 20-25 hp gains...checkout my friends J's parts dyno on his 00 s2000 thread and the amuse ecu was very similair gains as with the J's ecu...only difference was amuse ecu topped and peaked out a bit higher than j's ecu..but then again every s2k is different on the dynojet...but not by alot...heehee my03 dyno'd higher than my friends 00 s2k did...i dyno'd 216 whp with same parts but without 70rr and 63mm t1r+testpipe instead and also no j's throttlebody and no ecu...i just hope to break the 220's when i dyno with new setup
