Default LH window retractor cables replacement

Searched but came up empty. 2005 model LH window wouldn’t go down completely. Saw the snapped cable upon removing door panel. Ordered the $75 cable replacement kit. Crying UNCLE. Can’t get the upper cable wrapped around the spool while trying to compress both springs. Anybody been successful with such repair? Advice? Tricks? Jigs?…before I just give in and just handover $475+ for a complete retractor replacement.

thanks and peace be with you,
Doug

Thanks, but, yes I have. My front cable seems a bit longer than his and I’m not able to compress both springs with one hand AND thread the front cable into the spool.

Cable replacement kit? I have done this recently on 2 Honda's and the whole unit is what is ordered. And installing is blindingly easy. The first one was about 45 minutes, the second took all of 15 minutes. I also ordered the Honda OEM for one and the second was auto parts store aftermarket Dorman? They appeared to be identical from the same factory, only difference was the price!
