Having your front plate on won't cause your car to overheat or anything ... but I do think that it blocks some of the wind coming in through that front air dam just a bit. It's just UGLY though.

That's where ours is!

If we ever get stopped for not having it on then we will put it on but
until then we'll leave it in the trunk.

State of California section 5201 of the vehicle code.....License plates shall at all times be securely fastened to the vehicle for which they are issued as to prevent the plates from swinging and shall be mounted in a position to be clearly visible, and shall be maintained in a condition so as to be clearly visible. The rear plate shall be mounted not less than 12 inches nor more than 60 inches from the ground, and the front license plate shall be mounted not more than 60 inches from the ground.

I used to work in Culver City, and that's why I put my front plate on. Culver City was one of the first cities to get the traffic light cameras, so they really enforce the front plate law.

There really is no way to make the front plate look good. Some people have tried mounting it in different places (inside the grill).

Wanabe,I see you live close to me and i'm not sure if you have a front plate or not,but take my advice(if you don't have a plate) and watch out when driving in Culver City because the C.C.P.D really enjoys stopping people for that.

How do you make a license plate look good on the front of a S2000?
I agree with the others that you really have to put the plate in the trunk to make the front look good. I used to do that, until a Washington State cop gave me a "must repair" notice ($76 unless you show them within 10 days that you've put the plate on).

I did put it on, but I didn't use the mounting bracket. I just bolted the plate directly to the bumper, which is about as clean as you can do it. I put a thin foam pad under the plate to keep from scratching the paint, and didn't tighten the bolts very tight at all.

Maybe I'll take it off again sometime in the future.

Man, I got me another ticket for not having the front tags on today. This is my second ticket....Gonna have to put them on soon. How hard is it to hide the front tags behind the grill???

Well I live in Chicago, and it is required to have the plate on front. So what I am thinking about doing is, cutting the license plate. Top and bottom, so it would look more like a narrow rectangle, kind of euro I guess. That was the best I could think of for the past year, until someone else has a better sugg. LMK

Sir1027...most states require the plate to remain a certain size,so you could end up be cited for altering it.
