Thanks moonpie - i think it's a good comprimise to actually putting the plate on the car. i don't think it will affect airflow that much, but we'll see. i'm in a relatively cool climate, so i think i'll be fine.

If my car was registered in Oklahoma (back plates only) and I live in Colorado (front and back) a cop could not give me a ticket for not having a front plate because the state that I would be registered in does not have front plates. Two of three things have to be the same:
1. Car registered in state you live in
2. License in state you live in
3. Insurance in state you live in

Any two of the three. That's how it works for the military. But I also know of civilians with cars registered out of state. Just need a valid address for place of residence I think.
