Lost my S2000 Key... What should I do? Please Help!!!
Dude, you cannot start the car without the master key as it has that immobilizer chip in it as people have already stated.
I am not sure about any type of brake bypass method as that would defeat the original purpose of the immobilizer system .
You do have another recourse, swap out the ECU with the jdm or Mugen one that doesn't have the immobilizer chip in it. But that may be a little harder to come by..
Best thing to do is to tow it to the closest Honda dealer and have them cut/program you some new keys.

Another thing to check for: There is a little green 'key' logo on the instrument panel which should glow solid if the key inserted is not compatible with the immobilizer. This would confirm that you have a bad key, perhaps a copy without the magic chip. Let's hope the dealer will be able to do something to fix the situation via the VIN #, without actual towing of the car. The key is not cheap, is around $100 or $200.
BTW, even those of us who have bought our S2000's new should check out our spare keys for functionality. I am going to check on my valet key later this morning.

My girlfriend through my keys in a lake, and i had to get my car towed to Honda. They said they could not program a key without another key(with the chip in it), or the car being present. They can make you a key with the VIN # but all it will do is unlock the doors, not start the car.

and get reimbursed for towing.
DouglaS2000,
SanMarinoCpe works for the Honda Dealer here. That's why I'm gonna try that braking system first before I do anything. He knows what he's talking about. I am busy at work today so I will try it first thing tomorrow morning. If it's not the key problem I wonder what else it can be.
Thanks
jelliotlevy,
Thanks for the info... I will check the light. Let me know if your valet key can start the car.
Thanks
SanMarinoCpe,
I will let you know how it goes tomorrow... I appreciate you and Jeff taking the time helping me out.
Thanks

I stand corrected. I was thinking of the cost of my VW Passat 'switchblade' key, which is hyper expensive. The $100+ includes the remote, which is integral with the key. And in the 2001 Passat, there is no immobilizer. BTW, I did just check my valet key, and it starts up just fine. Now I know it is a reliable spare.
