Was it love at first sight?
I was looking to buy a TT in 3 weeks time on ebay and autotrader, accidentaly found a berlina S2000. I was thinking that s2k are over my budget so was not even considering looking after one. So, found that s2k in Manchester, looking good but crashed once. I was planning going to see it over the weekend.
Did a search on autotrader and found another two s2k , same money closer to where I live. On Saturday, went to see them, first one looking bad an smelly, I was like "yeah, I'll call you back!", and ran away! The 2nd one..I felt in love it and it was mine since that day.

Was hearing all about the S back when it was first introduced, went to see it at the NY Auto Show the year it was released. Fell in love at first sight and made the obligatory comment: "One day, I will own this car". That was probably 1999. Had several cars since and then started making a few more bucks recently and on a beautiful day last summer called into work, took the day off, drove nearly 4 hours to the dealership that had the exact car I was looking for (Silverstone AP2, low miles). Traded in my 05 RSX Type-S, and enjoyed a 3
hour drive home top down with weather in the low 90's. Got home to find my GF outside and her jaw dropped to the floor, went for an introcutory drive and she told me she loved me even more now. I laughed and dropped it 2 gears and took off into the sunset!!

Nine months ago I had a 91 Accord Coupe 5 speed that I had been working on for about a year and I hit a tree with the right front tire on a rainy day. I started looking for a replacement Accord of the same year so I could put everything I had on the crashed car on it. My wife and son talked me out of this and my son suggested I get an S-2000. I bought the Auto Trader and looked in the Internet and found this beautiful 02 in a Honda dealer that the previous owner had put 17" S wheels, an HKS exhaust and an Injen intake. The Dealer had installed a brand new set of tires and it had 65K miles, test drove it, my son and I fell in love with it and I bought it. Didn't look at any others. It took me a few weeks to get used to it, getting in and out of it, the hard clutch gave me pains on the back of my leg, got sideways unexpectedly turning a corner once, then I learned how to drive it and shift gears, you know how tricky that is on the S. Now I am fully comfortable with my S, learned a lot about it on this Forum, this is the best thing anybody can have, all the great minds that exist here with all the available knowledge at my finger tips. Thank you S2KI people.
Middle of winter, I decided I wanted a car. It had to be FR or AWD so I've been looking at boxsters, z4's, m3's, 350z, EVO's, STi's etc etc and the s2000 wasn't even in mind. I was crusing around a dealership strip and decided to pull into a pre-owned nissan lot thinking they'd have a 350z for me to test drive. Sitting there was a 03 silverstone ap1 for 26.5k. Asked the sales guy for a test drive.
When first jumping into the passenger seat, I was shocked at how small and cramped the cabin was. He putzed it around to a gas station where he took 3 mins to find the gas door. He told me to jump in. I was excited. My experience with standard transmission cars was proficient but far from good. After pulling out of the gas station, I floored it in 2nd all the way to 9k w/o warning him. Into 3rd, I slammed the shift perfectly and reached 75mph in a 35 zone. I quickly brought it back down to sane levels after realizing this and continued the test drive. I was giddy like a fat kid in a chocolate factory. This was the first time I've ever take a car to it's redline, let alone with a now pants soiled sales guy. In my head I kept thinking "mad car! just mad... I had to have it!" Didn't care about driving the rest.
I didn't buy that particular one because he didn't take my offer and I wanted white. 2 months of searching, 500+ miles of driving to dealerships, and a few headaches later, I got my 03' GPW. Still haven't driven the other cars. Still don't care to.

As I was approaching complete ownership of my Civic after making payments for a few years, I reassured my mother that I was going to take it easy on the car stuff now and just be happy with my Civic for as long as I could in the interest of being a little more financially responsible. They headed out of town to visit some friends in Kentucky for a weekend and it was a beautiful day out so I decided to go out for a drive. (Yeah yeah, I was living with them at the time)
I didn't have a real destination so I just kept driving and ended up 4 cities away and came upon a local Honda dealer there. I walked around the lot and came upon an S2000 there on the used lot. Wow. A salesman walked out and asked how I liked it. I told him it's a pretty nice car, and asked if a grown male can fit in it. He went back inside, grabbed a dealer plate and handed me the keys and said "Have fun. It's a great drive through Cambridge." Cambridge was the next city over so clearly he was giving me permission to enjoy the day and the car.
Well needless to say, after 5 minutes I was in love. Once the car was warmed up I did a quick run through the first few gears and pulled over i the middle of farm country and had a look at the car. It was one of those times when you get out and look back at the car and think "Are you serious?" I couldn't believe how awesome this little machine was.
I went back to the dealership and sat down for a little negotiation. From the time we started to the time we were done I'd saved about $3k on their asking. In the end it came down to them bickering over $1.75//month on my payments. I "caved" and let them win that.
Picked up the car 1 day after I paid off the Civic completely. It was so fresh that when I went to sell the Civic, the finance lein hadn't even been removed from the records yet.

My road to owning an S started when I was at a family reunion, I told my father that I was going to turbo my miata, to which he responded, "Thats dumb, its a waste of money, you will never get out what you put in." So I restated my case, "but I want to go faster." To which I got a fatherly response, "thats dumb too, but I understand." So from there is was off to every dealership we could find in any nearby town to test drive every sporty thing we could find. The S was the clear winner and its treated me very well.
Liked the S in 2000, but never really saw any locally, so I kind of forgot about them. Fast forward to 2005, the wife and I wanted something "fun" so we looked at Miata's since I liked my old one. The lease numbers on the Mazdaspeed Miata came back silly, so I thought how much is the S2000. Checked the Honda site and saw the $299 deal and called the dealer we had purchased our Odyssey from and he said he had one (literally). Met my wife and kids at the dealer that same day, drove away with the S in about 45 minutes after arriving, we wouldn't even let them prep the car! Went back a couple days later to pick up my Audi which we left at the dealer so I could drive the S home.
Oh yeah, on the way home, I felt VERY pleased with myself and had the "stupid happy grin" going until a Ferrari 355 passed by me going the other direction.

I was in the military when i first saw the S2000 review from a magazine.
It was a dream car I can never have.. at that time.
In 2002 when I was looking for my first new car(was tired of my old used car. wanted something new), my budget was a little over $20k, and the S2000 was way out of my league.
I never stopped loving the S2000 and 5 years later, I was able to buy a brand-new '07 Silverstone, and here I am.

Of course I loved it when I saw it in 1999, but it was out of my price range. The first one I saw at the dealership was Berlina with the front lip, rear spoiler and side strakes. They had it stickered at $40,000!!! I later met the guy that bought it. I had to wait until December 2001 to order my 2002. They were still going for over MSRP then in my area.
