Default Maintenance Req'd Light

Maintenance Req'd light just started blinking on my 02 S. Just turned 12K MI. I remember it did the same thing at 5K MI. I know how to shut it off. I figure it just the CPU programmed so you bring your car to the dealer. Everything seems fine. Does anyone know of any issues that would require the dealer? I'm planning on taking off the road very soon for the winter(that sucks!).

I guess I'll beat Xviper to this one!! Your owners manual has everything you need to know. Please read it!

I think it comes on every 7000 miles or so... not a big deal.. just turn it off.. Basically a reminder of oil changing and etc.

Yea... they all have some sorta light.. or something. the 96-00 Civics had a lil box that went from green to yellow to red.. all you have to do is stick the key into a slot to wind it back.. and my Integra has a blue button you push. I think people just get freaked out when it flashes when they are driving thinking it might be a CEL or something.

If you leave it alone long enough, it'll come on and stay on. It's only intended as a reminder. As often as not, on my Odyssey and S2000, the darn thing comes on right "after" I've had the service work done.

Just turn it off and don't worry about it.

Drive Safe,
Steve R.

Dude, I got flamed out big time when I first posed this question a few weeks ago. Read the manual and it is not a big deal. It is set on a mileage timer.
