Default Malfunction light came on

This just happened today. I checked the gas cap, it was loose. However, every time I fill the gas, I make sure that I at least do 3 turns and hear the clicking. Could it be the warm weather that causes this?

Also, the manual says the light would disappear after 3 trips, what does this mean??

Thanks in advance for clearing this up for me.

"If" it was the gas cap, then your light will go off after several driving "cycles" but I'm not sure about it being only 3 trips.
If you are fairly sure that it is the gas cap, you can reset the ECU manually. Pull the "BACK UP" fuse in the under dash fuse panel with the car off for about 30 seconds. If it comes back on, then you've got another problem and should go to the dealer to get the code read.

Xviper--thanks for your help. I will see if the light would go off after several driving "cycles".

Just wondering, what would cause the gas cap to become loose??

I had this happen to me recently, too. I am always careful to do more than 3 clicks. One day, the light went on ... and loose cap. I thought it might be my new booming subwoofer that was causing it. It did take quite awhile (nearly a full tank of gas) before the light went off. I guess the best thing is to check it once in awhile...
