Advice on resetting Engine Light
On a number of occasions my engine light has turned on because my gas cap has not been secured tightly. Last night it turned on again, I immediatly pulled over, checked the gas cap and found it too be very loose. I am 99% sure its the gas cap, I do not want to run a diagnostic on it and be charged whatever the price is. (I think its 50$) Any opinions? What is the procedure on turning off the light? If there is a real problem will the light turn on again after I turn it off? Thanks
Some people just disconnected the battery which is not a good idea but it will do the trick. The best way to reset your ecu is to pull out the back-up fuse. Just locate the fuse box.....look and see the ones that say "back-up"...pull that fuse out for maybe 15-30sec i guess...and then put it back in and you are done.
