Default MAP Sensor Replacement

We took the S2000 in today for some service, and to have the MAP replaced. The women in the service department said that it would be $186 to have it put in(but i think that this included the part) if they could not find the hesistation when they drove it. Doesn't this seem like way to much money? I thought that it just plugged in on top on the trottle body?

Please, i need feedback because we are picking the car up in a few hours.

I think the part only runs around $50 and should only take 5 minutes to replace.

Thats what i thought. Maybe she thought that it was a different part, and when they get the part from the parts department, they will figure it out.

It might not even need to be replaced. My car was hesitating before VTEC and I found some info here on the board about smacking it with the end of a screw driver. No problems now for 20000+ miles.

No, I bet they got the pricing right. Just another example of the dealer trying to take advantage of us.

Thats one hell of a labor charge!

Here is a link to HardTopGuy. He sells the kit for $45.......

185 sounds in line with a dealer charge. they will probably charge 1 hour of labor to put it in.

seriously, to put it in, you remove 2 screws, disconnect a plug. installation reverse of normal. that's it. it is right on top of the manifold. it is not heavy nor bulky.

buy it cheap, do it yourself.

Do easy stuff like that yourself. When I ordered my hardtop, the dealer offered nicely to install it for $300. I told them no thanks b/c I like to do my own work (really b/c I don't trust them to touch my car). I put in on in about an hour.

You are totally correct. Its about $50 and takes less than 5 mins to install yourself. I replaced mine last year and it cured my hesitation problems.
