Default Exposed Map Sensor

A little while ago, I took my car for its 54k Service.

A short while after the Service, the Check Engine Light came on; I diagnosed the fault with an ODB II reader (P0301 - Cylinder 1 Misfire) and have booked the car back in with the dealer to get it checked out.

In the meantime, I had a poke under the bonnet this evening to see if I could spot anything that may be obviously causing the problem and noticed the Sensor Map is exposed. Is it reasonable for me to assume this should be covered up ?

I don't usually spend much time under the bonnet (other than routine maintenance and cleaning), but I'm sure this isn't right ...

As always, any advice appreciated

Mary Whitehouse could be offended by it, I suppose...
