Default masking tape to wrap my nose with

Heading for 2000 miles trip next week.. my bumper is not in perfect shape but want to put masking tape to prevent from more rock chips. Is Lowes or HomeDepot my friends to pick this up? What do you put on for auto x runs?

Thanks in advance

an autocrosser who blue tapes (except for numbers) his front bumper is like a heavy weight boxer that polishes his nails.

Eh I don't do it, don't ever plan on doing it, mostly because I'm too lazy. Don't see the harm in wanting to protect your bumper though

But in your analogy, what's worse... polishing your nails, or getting your ass beat by the guy with polished nails?

3M Painter's Tape, I used it to drive from Maryland to California, came off after 6 days without leaving any damage.

Get the widest roll you can find, they even have easy release brand now which comes off better than the old stuff. Have a great trip!
